RECENT INJURIES BY MAN IN THE STAND

These Injuries - Pre Season Madness?

In my last article i questioned the use of slippers as opposed to football boots and was interested to read Ian Wright in the SUN making the same point!

These foot injuries, he also pointed out, never used to happen when players wore proper boots- not that long ago.

I wonder if he is registered with iFan!!?

What strikes me now is the enormous number of niggling injuries which players are suffering when the season is so young.

I have never known it so bad and I am convinced that this is a consequence of these arduous money spinning pre season friendlies and tournaments that a lot of our top clubs now schedule.

Gone are the days when pre season matches were played against lesser teams, often the result of friendships and favours earned or granted.

Now teams are off to the US, Far East and Europe to play in meaningless competitions entirely for marketing. merchandising and money making reasons.

I wonder what the managers really think? I have always thought they were obliged to conform for the good of the club. Now I am convinced.

So many players are picking up injuries (or have already picked them up) that the managers must regret these rigorous and sometimes very competitive games which risk their players well being before the start of the real business ahead.

And the real business has now started and Man U are being written off already. Now is the time to back them for the title in my view. After all they could have been 4-1 up at half time against City who had hardly touched the ball before they scored. All credit to Sven's men though. If they leave the Emirates with a result on Saturday then people will really sit up and take note.

Glad to see Rob Styles off the list for a while. What a decision that was. No excuses it was a cardinal error and good to see punishment has been administered. Not that this is much consolation to Stevie G. and his boys.

Who would have thought most people's naps for the drop, Wigan, would be flying high at this stage. Enjoy it while you have the chance lads because I still fear for your chances come next May.

I fancied Bolton for the drop too and nothing so far has changed my mind. They look a shadow of last season's European contenders.

If I were Man U Chelsea or Arsenal I would be worried about Liverpool who finally look as though they will be challenging for something other than the Champions League.

City fans. Don't get too excited, not yet any way.
